Beauregard is a town in southwest Louisiana, USA. This region offers a real lesson in early 20th-century history. It was once part of the disputed territory between the United States and Texas. Today, Beauregard is predominantly rural, agricultural, forested and sparsely populated. Visitors can explore the region's vast forested territories, known as "No Man's Land", and discover its many myths and legends. The town of DeRidder, the largest in the region, is home to Beauregard Gothic Prison, built in 1914. The prison is famous for the hangings that used to take place on the building's spiral staircase. History buffs can also visit the Beauregard Parish Museum, housed in the former railway station built in 1927.
