The star of the neighborhood is, of course, Rice University. In fact, a stroll around the campus is well worth the detour and helps to explain why education is so expensive in the USA! The university campus extends over 121 hectares, with majestic oak trees and lots of green space (a classic feature of American campuses). The university also includes over 70 buildings. Open since 1912, this university has a very good reputation both locally and nationally, not least for its research links with the NASA center.
