Galveston's Grand Opera building dates back to 1894. It's one of the oldest theaters in the U.S., and you can stroll through it on a self-guided tour. Restored several times, it now mainly stages comedy shows and musical performances, including concerts by the Galveston Symphony Orchestra, which plays Ravel to perfection, among other composers. There are also dance and theater performances and, of course, operas. A truly pleasurable experience, well worth the effort!
