The museum tells the story of Galveston, one of the main ports of entry for immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors can board the ship Elissa, built in 1877 and sailed from Greece, browse the museum, which traces the history of immigration to Texas, and access the database listing the names and origins of emigrants. One of only three ships of its type in the world, Elissa still sails today.
