THE STRAND

Strand Street, which, despite the hurricane of 1900, has retained some interesting vestiges, can be an excellent place for a stroll. Even today, it's a lively part of Galveston, lined with buildings from the late ^19th century. In addition to the many museums that surround it, Strand Street is lined with numerous stores and restaurants, some of which are located at the foot of a century-old building, a rare sight. Three blocks to the south, you can stroll along Postoffice Street, which offers a slightly less touristy and more artistic side of Galveston.
