THE STRAND
A less touristy and more artistic area of Galveston with many museums, stores and restaurants.
Strand Street, which, despite the hurricane of 1900, has retained some interesting vestiges, can be an excellent place for a stroll. Even today, it's a lively part of Galveston, lined with buildings from the late 19th century. In addition to the many museums that surround it, Strand Street is lined with numerous stores and restaurants, some of which are located at the foot of a century-old building, a rare sight. Three blocks to the south, you can stroll along Postoffice Street, which offers a slightly less touristy and more artistic side of Galveston.
