The Fiesta de San Antonio has been in existence since 1891 and commemorates the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. The first parade in 1891 contained horse-drawn carriages, decorated bicycles and floats carrying children in costumes. This historic commemoration later developed into a giant celebration of San Antonio's local culture, which has become an annual tradition. Carnivals, spectacular sports, fireworks, entertainment, ethnic festivals, art exhibits and parades: over 100 events are held.
