Brunch at Ellen's Restaurant is a neighborhood institution. Although the café serves a lunch and dinner menu that's well worth mentioning, it's really for breakfast that we take the time to stop by this Downtown address. We'll try the shrimp served on grits: a cornmeal that looks a lot like polenta, made by grinding corn seeds on a stone grinder. It's an emblematic dish of the American South. The portions are very (too?) generous, but it's good.
