THE SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM AT DEALEY PLAZA

Located on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, this museum is set up on the floor from which Lee Harvey Oswald fired the fatal shot at the President of the United States on November 22, 1963 at 12:30 pm. The window overlooking the presidential car is indicated, and the premises are reconstructed. A little morbid, you might say... True, but the museum is particularly well designed, which makes up for this somewhat dubious bias. It traces the political and social context in which Kennedy was elected in 1960, before presenting some of his major achievements. His personality and that of his wife are also described, helping us to understand the shock of his assassination. The reasons for his trip to Texas in 1963 and his minute-by-minute journey to the tragedy are detailed, with plenty of photos and film footage. The days following the tragedy are also recounted, from Lee Harvey Oswald's almost immediate arrest to his murder, some 24 hours after the President's, by Jack Ruby. The repeated investigations to determine whether he had acted alone or had been ordered by a high-ranking organization - a long-debated conspiracy theory - are also revealed. Finally, the repercussions of this sudden disappearance on American and international politics are evoked in a rather moving final film. The Sixth Floor Museum is not to be missed.
