The oldest rodeo in Texas and a must-see rodeo at the gateway to the Wild West: an authentic experience guaranteed!
It's the oldest rodeo show in Texas. Held since 1895, it's a must-see if you want to experience local Texas culture. Held annually in Fort Worth, the cowboy capital at the gateway to the Wild West, this rodeo continues to accompany the future leaders of agriculture and cattle ranching. An unforgettable event, spanning 11 days of shows, competitions and events, with plenty to take home!
The city of Fort Worth was nicknamed "Cowtown" shortly after the Civil War, when cowboys stopped here to stock up as they drove their cattle from South Texas to the Chisholm trail. The very first Stock Show was held in 1895, and was a great success. It wasn't until 1917 that the idea of adding a cowboy and cowgirl competition event was born. A member of the committee suggested using the Spanish name for these types of competitions: rodeo - albeit pronounced in their own way, with a Texan accent to die for. Since then, this folkloric event has offered all kinds of competitions, from barrel racing to lasso throwing and much more. It's an impressive spectacle, where the cowboys' balance seems to be hanging by a thread. Another big attraction is the country music on site, with several performances adding to the friendly, festive atmosphere.
