SID RICHARDSON MUSEUM
This museum houses a superb collection of paintings dedicated to the Old West as it existed in the 18th and 19th centuries.
This is a collection of paintings dedicated to the "Old West" as it existed in the 18th and 19th centuries. The oil on canvas paintings, done primarily by Charles Russell and Frederic Remington, the two greatest painters of the American West, depict the activities of cowboys and Indians. Sir Richardson was an oil tycoon who spent his money collecting primarily works by Russell and Remington since 1942. Sir Richardson also acquired works by lesser-known late 19th century artists such as Peter Moran.
