GIANT STATUE OF SAM HOUSTON
This statue, measuring 20.42 m high, is the largest in the world ever erected for an American hero.
This is the statue erected in 1994 in tribute to Sam Houston. Measuring 20.42 m high, it is the largest in the world ever erected to "an American hero". It is the work of Huntsville-born, Houston-based sculptor David Adickes, whose studio can be visited in the city. Note that the artist has since created a giant Bush and Obama side-by-side! You can even see his studio from the highway, so enormous are the sculptures.
