Indian Lodge with a swimming pool and a large terrace, offering huge rooms, warm and comforting
This absolutely delightful lodge is located on Route 118, which climbs into the mountains just outside Fort Davis. Right in the heart of Davis Mountains National Park, it's a whiteadobe complex built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the mid-1930s, at the height of the New Deal. We love the large terrace and pool overlooking the valley, the white walls reflecting the sun, the warm, comforting simplicity of the rooms and the huge hearth in the atrium and living room. There are trails all around to discover the Davis Mountains. We love this place in the quiet of the mountains. The Black Bear Restaurant serves a magnificent breakfast. In general, nature park restaurants are often poor value for money. Here, however, the menu is meticulous, the dishes well prepared and the prices reasonable.
