Closed for renovation, coupled with a change of ownership, for a good year, the restaurant takes its name from the Indian word kiva, meaning "place of ceremony". Open since 1981, it was one of Terlingua's busiest addresses until the sudden death of its legendary owner. So the bar was set pretty high for the new arrivals, who promised to keep the spirit of the place alive. And it looks like they're off to a good start. We recommend a stopover, if only to take a look at this unique and atypical place.
