Park installed on the site of Fort Pena Colorado, served as a key connection point between Fort Clark and Fort Davis
This small park is located on the site of Fort Pena Colorado, opened by the U.S. Army in 1879 as an essential link between Fort Clark and Fort Davis. Not much remains today. Nature has reclaimed its rights, much to the delight of Marathon's inhabitants, who often come to relax by the park's vast pond. The park, however, is not very interesting, and is seldom visited by tourists.
