LEACOCK MUSEUM
Museum in Orillia featuring a slice of English-Canadian culture well known in this country with a great literary success.
This museum showcases a slice of English-Canadian culture. Stephen Leacock, a professor of political science at McGill University in Montreal in the early 20th century, spent his summers in a point defining Old Brewery Bay, where he wrote biographies, political and economic essays, and absurd short stories. Everywhere in Orillia, one can feel the Leacock effect, whose greatest literary success, A Summer in Mariposa, in its original version Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, is well known in the country, the United States and England.
