The paniolo tradition lives on every year through this day of concerts at Kapiolani Park centered around the slack key guitar, a typical instrument of the island. Less known than its cousin the ukulele, the slack key guitar also comes from the Portuguese immigration. The 2021 festival was held in November and online, which is convenient for following it from all over the world, but let's hope it can come back in its traditional form for years to come!
