Beautiful tropical valley overlooking Honolulu which has a few Bed & Breakfasts
Manoa Valley is a beautiful tropical valley overlooking Honolulu. And it is home to the University of Hawaii and its beautiful campus. But apart from the University, this area of Honolulu is mainly residential and there are no hotels but only a few Bed & Breakfasts. The higher you go, the quieter the streets become. Nature lovers, anxious to escape the busy Waikiki area, will particularly appreciate the Lyon Arboretum and the beautiful Manoa Falls. Further west and just above the H1 highway, another more upscale residential area: Makiki. In its heights, at the end of Makiki Heights Drive and Tantalus Drive, there are several beautiful views of Honolulu and pleasant hiking trails in the forest of Makiki Tantalus. Not to mention the city's rich museum of contemporary art. Beware, if you go by car in the Manoa Valley and in Makiki in particular, you will soon get lost because the roads are all the same and, as they are residential areas in the middle of the forest, don't count on passers-by to give you information because no one is walking around! It is better to take one of the buses which cross these zones, at least you are sure not to get lost. It is in the bus station of Ala Moana Shopping Center that we take one of the buses which lead there. Another possibility: take an Uber, they are easily found in Honolulu.
