A large white monument in the shape of a boat: the USS Arizona Memorial, located above the ship USS Arizona

Everything starts with the projection of a documentary film of about twenty minutes where we see archival images of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Second World War. We then embark on a boat that leads to a large white monument in the shape of a boat: the USS Arizona Memorial. It is just above the ship USS Arizona, which lies at 12 m depth since the attack. Bombed by the Japanese on December 7, 1941, it sank in just nine minutes, killing 1,177 servicemen who still lie in the wreckage. On a white marble wall are the names of these men. Most were no more than 20 years old. Knowing that they are trapped in this ship for eternity is particularly moving. 78 years after being sunk, the ship still leaks gasoline that can be easily seen on the surface of the water. For some, it is the ship that still mourns its dead... Beware, if the visit is free, you need an entrance ticket to reserve your place. You can choose the date and the time slot on the dedicated website but they sell out very quickly. A first batch of tickets is available three months before the date, then a second batch the day before from 3pm for those who missed the boat. It is recommended that you arrive on site 1 hour before the time indicated on your ticket to have time to reach the Pearl Harbor Memorial Theater and find your line. The time indicated on your ticket is the departure time of the boat and cannot be changed.
