The largest heiau dedicated to the god of war which would have been the scene of many human sacrifices in Waimea
Built around 1600, it is the largest heiau (temple) on Oahu... well, what is left of it. Some of the walls are still standing and the main buildings can still be seen. Dedicated to the god of war, it would have been the scene of many human sacrifices. The temple being perched on a hill, the view on the bay of Waimea is splendid. It is also the ideal place to admire a magnificent sunset on the sea, while the earth-colored ruins are covered with shades of red and orange, particularly beautiful. A moment of peace.
