This road which crosses the Chain of Craters Road offers really impressive lunar landscapes

This road crosses the Chain of Craters Road and goes into the Kau Desert. Its lunar landscapes are really impressive and it is a pity that visitors often skip this route! The road is stopped at Halina Cliff, a mountain formed by the lava flows of the PuuOo cone. The Hilina Pali Overlook (706 m) offers a superb view of the ocean. Several hiking trails start from there and go into this desert area. The trails are easy as long as you follow the path marked by cairns.
