LAVA TREE STATE PARK
Lava Tree State Park is a natural curiosity not to be missed
A curiosity of nature not to be missed! Following an eruption of Kilauea, in 1790, the tropical forest was completely destroyed in this area. Trees molded in the hardened lava are the impressive testimonies of this catastrophe. Some of them are more than 4 meters high! For unusual pictures. The trees have long since disappeared but the lava molded into their shape is still there. The visit can be completed by the Pahoa Lava zone museum not far from there, which explains the process and shows pictures of the eruption.
