This festival honors David Kalakaua, the beloved king who revived Hawaiian culture and the last king of Hawaii.

To honor David Kalakaua, the beloved king who revived Hawaiian culture and the last of Hawaii, a festival, called the Merrie Monarch Festival, is held each year just after Easter. The program includes a large parade and a hula dance contest with participants from all the Pacific Islands. The event is a real parade of talents, colors and surprises, not to be missed if you are lucky enough to be there at that time. 60th edition in 2023.
