PACIFIC TSUNAMI MUSEUM
The visit of this museum allows you to learn how to recognize the signs of a tsunami and how to get to safety
This museum is dedicated to all the victims of the tsunamis that devastated Hilo in 1946 and 1960. Photos and archival films tell the story of these two disasters at length. To be seen: the model of downtown Hilo, as it was before the first tsunami. A room presents the different parts of the world that have been hit by tsunamis in the 20th century, including the 2004 Asian tsunami. A little extra: the visit will teach you how to recognize the warning signs of a tsunami and how to get to safety, you never know!
