Circular avenue lined with fifty immense and bushy banyan trees.
This circular avenue is lined with fifty huge and bushy banyan trees. These trees were planted between 1933 and 1972 by celebrities who came to visit the island. Each star has a banyan tree and a commemorative plaque. Even Franklin Roosevelt had a tree planted when he visited the island on July 25, 1934! Richard Nixon, when he was a senator, had one planted in 1952, but he was less lucky than Roosevelt: his tree was uprooted by a storm... 20 years later, his wife replanted a tree at the same location.
