The statue of the king was sculpted to real scale: Kamehameha was very imposing and measured nearly 2 meters! For the anecdote, this statue was originally supposed to be installed in the historic center of Honolulu, on King Street, in 1880, but the boat that was carrying it sank! So it was replaced by a copy. But two years later, the original statue was found by an American in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands. He brought it back to the island of Hawai'i and the authorities decided to install it near the birthplace of Kamehameha.
