JODO MISSION
Buddhist mission marking the centenary of the arrival of the first Japanese migrants, gardens with a pagoda and a giant Buddha.
At the end of Aloa Moana Street, just before arriving at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. Free admission. A real haven of peace, this Buddhist mission was founded in 1968 to celebrate the centenary of the arrival of the first Japanese migrants. The buildings of the mission are not open to the public, but the walk in the gardens is very pleasant and allows to admire the sumptuous pagoda and the impressive giant Buddha, the largest outside Japan. Its weight is estimated at 3.5 tons! Several events open to the public take place there during the year.
