A hike in this national park requires a permit reservation through one of the two companies in the area.
The Kalaupapa Peninsula and the trail leading to it are part of the national park of the same name. Before going to the park, where there are no amenities other than toilets, make a stop in Kaunaukakai to buy mineral water, sunscreen and a good mosquito repellent! To do the hike, you have to book a permit through one of the two companies in the area: Saint Damien & Mother Marianne Cope Molokai Tours and Kekaula Tours.
