A stone monument that honors all the workers of the Koloa plantation
A stone monument, inspired by the circular shape of a millstone, honors all the workers of the Koloa plantation. Seven bronze figures represent the major ethnic groups to which these workers belonged, including Hawaiians, Chinese, Japanese, Puerto Ricans, Koreans, Filipinos and Portuguese. In Hawaii in general, the sugar industry had used a large foreign workforce. The workers settled permanently in the archipelago, giving rise to the mixed population we know today.
