PEGGY'S POINT LIGHTHOUSE
The lighthouse is the emblem of the coastal village of Peggy, offering a view of the sea, with the possibility of admiring and photographing it.
The emblem of this tiny coastal village, this lighthouse, also known as Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, is the best known of the Atlantic Provinces and is among the most recognizable in the world. The first lighthouse, built of wood in 1868, was destroyed by fire. It was replaced in 1914 by the present octagonal lighthouse and is under the responsibility of the Canadian Coast Guard. It cannot be visited but its new observation platform offers a romantic view of the sea, and thousands of tourists come every year to photograph and admire it.
