EAST POINT LIGHTHOUSE
The oldest lighthouse on the island is an octagonal wooden structure built by William MacDonald in 1866-1867 at East Point.
Built by William MacDonald in 1866-67, it is the oldest lighthouse on the island, erected just before Prince Edward Island joined the Canadian Confederation in 1873. It is octagonal in shape and was moved to its present location in 1908 due to cliff erosion. Guided tours are given daily during the summer months. Next door, in the former lighthouse keeper's house, a store sells all kinds of arts, crafts and souvenirs (pottery, jewelry, books, gourmet products, etc.).
