This famous lake, with its creamy blue-green waters, is accessible on foot and offers an unforgettable panoramic walk.

This famous lake is definitely a must-see tourist attraction and the jewel of Banff National Park. Its reputation comes from its creamy blue-green waters, simply unique (beware, only in good weather!). In 1884, the lake was named after Princess Louise, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and the wife of the Governor General, the Marquess of Lorne. Unfortunately, it is not possible to walk all the way around the lake, since impressive mountains frame the southeast part of the lake, but it is still possible to take a 30-minute scenic walk from the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise along the north shore of the lake. It is also possible to reach Lake Agnes and the Plain of Six Glaciers from the Lake Louise parking lot (often full in summer).

Other activities include canoe trips and climbing the Back of the Lake for the more adventurous. This immense steep rock is the playground for climbers in the region and offers beautiful routes overlooking the emerald lake. The site is accessible on foot from the panoramic trail. Climbing equipment is available for rent at the Wilson Mountain Sports shop.

A ski lift also offers an unforgettable ride up to 2,000 m above sea level: spectacular views of Lake Louise, the glaciers, the flora... and, on a regular basis, the fauna of the region. The lift allows you to spend a peaceful afternoon in the heart of the "Rockies".
