This area was originally inhabited by the Chinese who were working on the construction of the transcontinental railway. Today, it is very Americanized and is characterized by a large number of Chinese, Japanese and Korean restaurants, oriental grocery stores, herbal shops, massage parlours and play houses. It is called the International District. Tours are organized by the Wing Luke Museum to discover its history (walking tour) but also its flavours (food tour).
