DUCASSE DE MONS (DOUDOU)

A traditional and inimitable folk festival where, during the "Lumeçon", Saint George fights the Dragon to the sound of the "Doudou".
Classified as a Unesco heritage site, the Ducasse de Mons (or Doudou) begins with the procession of the Golden Car, which consists of pushing a chariot with the relics of Saint Waudru to the collegiate church. Then during the fight known as "Lumeçon", Saint George, accompanied by the characters of the Lumeçon (devils and Chins-Chins, White Men and Men of Leaves, Firemen and Police officers), will fight the Dragon to the frenetic sound of the "Doudou" (traditional air). A torchlight procession, a festival of military music, concerts and a street sale follow. An unmissable event.
