MUSÉE DES ARTS DÉCORATIFS FRANÇOIS DUESBERG
Museum presenting an imposing collection of clocks, unique in the world, and comprising more than three hundred pieces in Mons
The period covered (1775-1825) by the François Duesberg Museum makes the figure of Napoleon I as protector of the arts and supporter of the artists whose best (widely represented in its exceptional collections) were the Empire's appointed and privileged suppliers. A stone's throw from the collegiate church of Sainte-Waudru, a visit to the François Duesberg Museum is therefore a must. This museum is, in the richness of its specificities, on a level quite comparable to the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. The impressive collection of clocks, unique in the world, forms a dazzling ensemble and includes more than three hundred pieces (including the much sought-after pieces with exotic subjects) from the Louis XVI to Napoleon I periods. All of them are in perfect working and aesthetic condition. This is also the case for all the other objects on display: majestic French golden bronzes, superb porcelain (especially from Paris and Brussels), sumptuous goldsmiths' and silversmiths' pieces (including the famous Monstrous hallmark), rare jewellery and countless objects of great curiosity. A sublime temple of neoclassical art, all the objects come from the collections of Baron and Baroness François Duesberg, a couple of Brussels patrons. A must-see institution in the city that allows you to put yourself in the shoes of a great 19th century French aristocrat. Art lovers will be delighted by the abundance of works on display.

To enter this museum with a little austere exterior walls? is to cross the threshold D? another era, D? another world!
If you let out by the Master of the place that will make you discover with passion this extremely rare collection of clocks, gilded bronzes, goldsmitheries, porcelain, etc.? was thanks to more than 50 years of public passion with his wife.
You will see that I "fan" this museum? but I am not only: visitors (and return often several times!) from the four corners of the planet.
Whatever are their nationality, culture, their language, all visitors unanimous and feel the same feeling D? amazement! It is rare!
Do? it is a place of "universal communion" - alone - is really worth the detour via Mons (Belgium).
And is a few steps from this museum you can also admire beautiful collegiate Sainte-Waudru and S? does it make beautiful grant a moment of respite on the very pretty Large? Place.
