The largest jazz festival in the Himalayas was launched in 2002 by Chhedup Bomzan of the Jazz Upstairs Bar and Navin Chettri, drummer and singer from Cadenza. Its mission: to promote jazz in Nepal and introduce world-class musicians to the public in Kathmandu. Also nicknamed "Jazzmandu", this festival aims to make music accessible to as many people as possible, to transcend cultural borders and to spread a message of peace through music. Also on the programme: free shows.
