THE UMBRELLA FOUNDATION
The Umbrella Foundation is an Irish foundation founded in 2005 in Nepal for children. Having recognized that 10 years of civil war had displaced tens of thousands of children orphaned, the 5 centres managed by the Foundation in Nepal promoted access to education and promote the reintegration of children into their families or communities of origin. Until then, 120 children were able to be returned to their families or communities.
What do they propose ? 3-month volunteer missions in one of the 5 children's homes managed by the Foundation (20 to 40 children or adolescents per centre). In the programme: accompaniment to school, sports and cultural animation at school exit and during free time of children, aid to duties and teaching, participation in logistics linked to the daily life of centres…
Where ? Nepal (Kathmandu Valley).
Prices and conditions. The Umbrella Foundation asks volunteers to find funding of € 1 500 for housing (centre) and on-site food, as well as the cost of care for a child, for a period of one year.
