Also known in Bhutan as Thimphu Dromchoey, these festivities celebrating the defeat of the Tibetans in the 17th century are performed in Thimphu Tashichhodzong Monastery for three days to appease Bhutan's protective deity, Pelden Lhamo. This event precedes the very popular Thimphu Tschechu festival. Because it is particularly important and sacred to the people of Bhutan, Thimphu Drubchen has only been open to tourists very recently. Don't forget to put away your cameras, they are forbidden!
