This is Bhutan's largest tschechu: over 3,000 visitors flock here every year to watch the spectacular dances.
It is the largest tschechu in Bhutan: more than 3,000 visitors from all over the country flock to the Thimphu Tashichhodzong every year to enjoy spectacular religious dances for three days. The event is preceded by days and nights of prayer and rituals to invoke the gods. On the programme: choreographed and costumed dances such as Guru Tshengye (Guru Rinpoche's eight manifestations), Shaw Shachi (the deer dance) and many others. This event can also take place in October. Remember to enquire about the dates.
