Oldest temple frequented by young parents, with magnificent views over the Thimphu valley
Built in the 12th century by the son of the founder of the Drukpa school, Changangkha Lhakhang is the oldest temple in the valley. The central image represents the bodhisattva of compassion. Gyaré Yeshé Dorje, founder of the Drukpa school in Tibet, is the subject of a superb mural painting. You will meet many families here: young parents come here to find a name that will be a good omen for their baby. The place is also famous for its magnificent view of the Thimphu Valley. Take the time to enjoy it after the visit!
