A long-awaited tschechu with, as a highlight, the re-enactment of a battle with hundreds of warriors in costume.
Dedicated to Yeshe Gompo and Palden Lhamo, the two main protective deities of the Drukpas, this tschechu, one of the most eagerly awaited by the Bhutanese, is one of the most impressive in the kingdom because it recreates a life-size episode of the war against the Tibetans in the 17th century, and features hundreds of costumed warriors. For five days, dancers dressed in spectacular costumes of yellow silk or brocade, and wearing animal masks or fearsome deities, take great pleasure in entertaining the astonished spectators.
