This fertility temple dedicated to Bhutan's most popular saint, the divine madman Drukpa Kunley, stands at the top of the hill
Built in 1499 by Ngawang Choegyel, the 14th representative of the Drukpa, the fertility temple, Chime Lhakhang, stands at the top of the hill. It is dedicated to Bhutan's most popular saint, the divine madman Drukpa Kunley, a character with non-conformist behaviour, born in the 15th century. Next to the Richtensen cafetaria, a very pleasant little path flanked by phallus (sign of fertility) leads you in about thirty minutes to this cute little temple. Many couples who are unable to have children go there every year.
