A festival much appreciated by the Bhutanese, with 4 days of cham (ritual dance) followed by the unfolding of a gigantic thangka.
This is a must-attend event that Bhutanese don't miss for anything in the world. For four days, traditional masked dances, mysterious tantric ceremonies and fascinating rituals that shape the Buddhist religion are performed. But the highlight of this tschechu is the unfolding, just before dawn, of a gigantic thangkha representing the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche, so great that it is considered one of the most sacred blessings of the kingdom. It is said that the mere sight of it cleanses the faithful from all their sins..
