A not very enthusiastic and warm welcome. Campsite area lacked amenities and fireside ashes had just been swept into the sand. Prices were unjustified and as North American travellers felt discriminated by tiered pricing ie one price for locals, one for Africans and another for non Africans

Dear Tony,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at Boteti River Camp. We value all feedback, whether positive or negative, as it helps us improve and provide a better experience for our guests. I am genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and I would like to address the concerns you raised.
First and foremost, I apologize for the less-than-enthusiastic welcome you received upon your arrival. Our team is usually known for their warm and welcoming hospitality, especially our managers Mish and Grace whom welcomed you to camp, I am disappointed that we fell short in this regard during your stay. We will take your feedback to heart and work on improving the initial guest greeting to ensure a consistent friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Regarding the campsite amenities and the cleanliness of the fireside area, we take cleanliness and guest comfort seriously. Given the camps structure we aim for basic amenities such as water, electricity access as well as shared ablutions - this is what we have packaged for our camp grounds. We have investigated the issue you raised about ashes in the sand and taken appropriate measures to ensure our campsite area is maintained to the highest standards.
I would like to address your concern about tiered pricing. We aim to provide fair and competitive pricing for all our guests, and it is never our intention to discriminate against anyone based on their nationality. The pricing structure you mentioned may have been due to various factors such as local regulations, promotions, or discounts available to specific groups which are in this case our Southern African Development Community (SADC) Rates. We only have two pricing structures; being SADC rates and international rates. The SADC Rates are an incentivised rate which we offer local and residents of the SADC community to encourage regional tourism and as per local regulations. I assure you that this is a common practice with most lodges and hotels in the southern region of Africa.
Once again, I apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to making the necessary improvements to provide a more enjoyable and satisfying experience for all our guests. We hope you will consider giving us another chance to exceed your expectations in the future.
If you have any further concerns or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We value your input and are dedicated to making the necessary changes to enhance our guest's experience.
Thank you for choosing our lodge, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.
We had a great time at Boteti River Camp. Grace and Pat were amazing hosts. We really enjoyed the viewing platform and saw elephants, zebra, baboons, impala, springbok, hippos. While the price for the food was a bit steep, we enjoyed the local food and the way it was prepared.
Stayed here as a stop-over and enjoyed the stay. The camping facilities were great and the raised viewing platform was the perfect place to have a beer and watch the river (nearside cows, farside elephants).
