MOTSANA CENTRE
The Motsana complex is a reunion place for expatriate families with young children.
The Motsana complex, which means "mosquito" in Tswana, may seem a bit sinister at first glance. It is a black building with the look of an industrial factory with geometric shapes, very close to a Mad Max set. However, once you cross its threshold, you will find yourself in a very nice little outdoor café. A place for expatriate families with young children to get together, you can also have lunch or simply take a coffee break. In addition to the café, this small mall has a hair salon, a used book store, and severalarts and crafts souvenir stores. You can also relax with a beauty salon that offers manicures, pedicures, massages and facials.
Opened in 2010 at the initiative of an enterprising young woman who wanted the youth of Maun to have a pleasant and relaxed place to gather, this center encourages creativity in all its forms. Art shows or exhibitions are sometimes featured, open stages welcome new artists and dance classes of all kinds are organized. On Thursday nights, films are shown and every three months or so, the stage hosts a new theater show. Once a month there is a friendly local market with stalls selling local produce. This little haven of peace with a rusty and salvaged feel, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2020, continues to grow in reputation!
