Created in 1983, the aim of this reserve is to reintroduce sub-Saharan species such as the Algal Oryx and Dama Mhou Gazelles to Senegal. Brought back from different countries, they are first brought to Guembeul to acclimatize to the country before being released in the Ferlo Nord Wildlife Reserve. A Ramsar site, the site is also home to many birds. At the entrance, there is a small interesting eco-museum with explanatory panels on introduced species.
