Castle located in altitude, one of the highest in Alsace, built in the 11th century by the Counts of Eguisheim, keep and ramparts to see
Sitting at 940 metres above sea level, it is one of the highest castles in Alsace! Built at the end of the 11th century by the Counts of Eguisheim, it became the property of the Ribeaupierre family at the end of the 13th century. In the 16th century, work was undertaken to adapt it to artillery. But finally considered of no strategic interest, it was demolished in 1655. Today, one can still admire the keep of the 12th century and the ramparts rebuilt in the 16th century. Be careful, the path to get there is rather steep... So hang on!
