LA RANDONNÉE SUR LE SENTIER DU DOUANIER
Go there and contact
26 kilometers long, the "sentier des Douaniers" is the most pleasant way to discover the Cap Corse. It follows the coastline and its crystal clear waters from Maccinagio to Centuri, passing through Barcaggio and Tollare. It is moreover the shortest and easiest stage of this path. It goes along the beach and the village of Barcaggio before going into the scrub. Your itinerary ends at the pebble beach of Tollare, but the trail continues for another 4 hours to Centuri. It is better to warn you that it will be difficult to stop in such a good way... The Douanier trail leads from Macinaggio to Centuri on a marked out itinerary and allows you to discover along the coastline very beautiful Genoese towers. We enter the natural area of the Cap Corse, including the natural reserve of the Finocchiarola islands (gulls refuge: visit forbidden!). The visit continues by the chapel of Santa-Maria built in the XIIth century on the vestiges of a paleochristian building of the VIth century, then by the cove of Santa-Maria, prolonged by the ruins of a Genoese tower, disemboweled by the fleet of the admiral Nelson in 1793. After the tower of Agnellu, you can take a break in the small port of Barcaggio to eat and greet the islet of Giraglia dominated by its lighthouse built in the 19th century (at the time, the most powerful in the Mediterranean). From Barcaggio to Tollare, allow 45 minutes. Finally, the path from Tollare to Centuri requires 4 hours in a beautiful wilderness.
