This bronze equestrian statue is dedicated to Prince Michael Obrenović (1823-1868) who liberated Serbia from the last Turks in 1867. The prince is dressed in a typical 19th century costume. On the pedestal, one can read the engraved names of the main Serbian cities and observe scenes from the country's history. The statue is the work of Enrico Paci and was erected in 1882. Nowadays, this monument is used as a meeting point; it is called kod konja ("near the horse").
