In the middle of Karađorđe Park, you will find this monument erected in honor of a great poet and politician of the 1848 revolution, Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869). He stayed in Belgrade several times in the mid-19th century and defended, in the Chamber of Deputies, the fate of the Christians of the Balkans martyred by the Ottomans. The monument was made in 1933 by the Slovenian sculptor Lojze Dolinar. It reads an excerpt from Journey to the East (1835): "I would like to fight with this nascent people for fruitful freedom."

Cocorico!
Le monument ne paye pas de mine, mais rappelle ô combien Lamartine est important aux yeux des serbes pour les avoir défendus face aux ottomans
