This memorial is located in the building where, from July 1941, several thousand Serbian patriots and opponents of the Nazi regime were tortured and murdered. Jews and Roma were also imprisoned there. According to official figures, 23,697 prisoners stayed in the camp - among them 2,000 women - of whom 4,200 were executed.
The museum has been open to the public since 1969 and includes a permanent exhibition with some 400 objects.
